We’ve flown to LA. On our flight out here, we flew over Monument Valley, scene for numerous iconic westerns and the Grand Canyon. The early morning light cast long shadows that really brought out the relief in these landmarks. Landing at LAX it soon became apparent how much one industry dominates this town. Almost all of the airport advertising is dedicated to recent movie releases. We enjoyed a two-hour rent-a-car waitat Avis, because their computers were down and they had to do everything by hand. The line was out the door when we arrived and had wrapped around the building when we finally left. Anne prayed to that terrible and awesome IT god, Snafu, and we finally got our car. Then we ventured out onto the LA highways. We safely got to our Little Tokyo hotel. We met up with Dan, enjoyed a little something at Pie Hole and then enjoyed a walking tour of LA’s art district. There were a few filming crews out and about, including one at Pie Hole. Dan pointed out quite a few favorite shooting locations. I think that the pictured boutique auto repair shop also doubles as a movie set. Later, we went out to dinner with Dan and Tessa at Little Bear. It was a great way to end a great day.
