Orchid Show

The Missouri Botanical Garden’s annual February orchid show has always been a welcomed relief from the doldrums of winter and with Anne transitioning out of her role as Math Interventionist, I went to the garden and saw this year’s orchid show. The theme of this show is vanilla. Who knew that the vanilla flower is an orchid? Certainly not me. Unfortunately, none of the vanilla plants in the show were flowering, but there were plenty of other orchids to be seen. I didn’t stay very long there though, because today’s weather was gorgeous. The mercury even flirted with seventy. As soon as I returned home, I threw a leg over the bike and headed towards Forest Park. Finally, when Anne got home from school, we took a walk. Don’t worry folks, the doldrums of winter will return tomorrow, but until then, I’m all about making hay, while the sun shines.
