It has been a while since I’ve made a political post. Maybe it has been too long. I took the afternoon off today, to go bicycling. Leaving work at noon, I almost got caught up in the Bernie Sanders motorcade. He had been stumping over in Illinois at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. March 15th is primary day in both Illinois and Missouri. A rally in Edwardsville could be seen to kill two birds with one stone. On the backside of Lambert airport a cop had already stopped the oncoming traffic. I must have barely slipped through in my direction before the other cop erected the barricade that would have halted me. I saw the other police car sitting there when I drove past. Based upon my experience with all of the hoopla of past presidential elections, the fact that there were only 2 cop cars present seems to me to indicate a lack of support for Sanders at Saint Louis city hall. Later, when I was riding in the park, down Skinker, I was passed by a funeral procession that also was escorted by 2 Saint Louis city police cars.
