Gone-Gone-Gondolier Dan

Gondolier Dan

Gondolier Dan

Yesterday, winter storm Hera blew through town. It snowed, but didn’t stick, then it got fricking cold. Almost on cue, Dan flew back to warm, if not exactly sunny southern California. Anne and I shared one last meal with him, this time at Foundation Grounds and then took him to the airport. We exchanged hugs, then he took off and then left his Navy Pea-coat in the car, an inheritance from his grandfather and grabbed his bags and hurried into the terminal for warmth. It was a good visit. We got to see plenty of him and he also got to see all of his Saint Louis friends. Now, it’s back to empty nesting for Anne and I. The photo of Dan is from 2011, when he was interning at Saugatuck. He has lashed two canoes together, allowing him to standup and pole them along like a Venetian gondolier. He left it on my laptop and I snatched it.
