One Thousand Miles

Lord I’m one, Lord I’m two, Lord I’m three, Lord I’m four,
Lord I’m five hundred miles from my home.
500 miles, 500 miles, 500 miles, 500 miles
Lord I’m five hundred  miles from my home.

Lord I’m six, Lord I’m seven, Lord I’m eight, Lord I’m nine,
Lord I’m one thousand miles from my home.
1,000 miles, 1,000 miles, 1,000 miles, 1,000 miles
Lord I’m one thousand miles from my home.

My Hot Girlfriend!

My Hot Girlfriend!

Apologies to author Hedy West, Peter, Paul and Mary and all of the other performers of this most anthologized of folksongs. “500 Miles”, with its simple repetitive lyrics originally offered a lament by a traveller who is far from home, out of money and too ashamed to return. This rendition covers a subject that is nowhere near as morose as the original. In fact, it is a celebration! Today, Anne, my hot girlfriend, bicycled her one thousand mile for the year. Actually, she is up to 1,001 miles now, but who’s counting. We rode around Forest Park and it was certainly hot out and humid too. The best face that you could put on the weather would be sultry. Remember rule #2 from yesterday? Do feed the bear! Following that rule, we biked over to the CWE and tried out a new place on Euclid, The Tavern – Kitchen & Bar. It’s near McPherson, where Duff’s used to be. Anne had the Lemon Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes and I had the Hash and Eggs and a Bloody Mary. The food was good, the portions large and the staff attentive. What more could you ask for?
