Tonight is game three of the NLCS, so I have to hurry up and write this blog post before game time. The Cards are already up 2-0 in this series, so we are hoping for a third Redbirds victory tonight over the LA Dodgers. The photo with this post shows Carl trying on a Cardinal mask in the Seattle novelty store Archie McPhee. Anne had a field trip today. Her fifth grade class went to the planetarium. They are studying astronomy. She had a good time today, but now she’s feeling kind of tired and is plopped out on the couch. I could rant about politics, but things in Washington seem depressingly the same. I did lean that our country has defaulted on its debt, twice! The first time was during the War of 1812, in which you might remember that the British captured Washington and burned it to the ground, including the treasury. The second time was much more recently. It occurred in 1979 and was more in the nature of a technical default. Again Congress was arguing over the debt ceiling. It hiked the debt limit, but not soon enough for the wheels of the bureaucracy to turn and prevent a momentary default. This mistake ended up costing the government billions of dollars back then. Now a days those billions would most likely be trillions.
