Tennessee Flat Millipede

Also called the Red-Sided Flat Millipede, this is a creature of the Southeastern US , we just happened to find this one in Eastern Tennessee. It is a harmless creature that feeds upon leaf detritus. It crossed our path as we were wandering through the woods. Rey had taken us to iJams, which is not to be confused with iTunes, an urban nature center on the banks of the Tennessee River, just south of downtown Knoxville. It would have been nice to go to the Smokies, the national park, not the baseball team, but time and schedule did not permit it. This was a nice and more expedient substitute.
