Keep Them Doggies Rolling

First off, Happy Birthday to Harry and also to his brother Lou!

I started a new assignment at work on Friday.  I would like to tell you all about it, but I won’t.  It involves a new discipline, new people and a new location, everything that makes starting a new job exciting.  So, my plan is to spend all next week, coming up to speed on the job, just like I spent all of Friday.  Learn everything that I need to know and then go on vacation and forgetting everything that I have learned.  😉

Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling

Roiling, rolling, rolling
Though the streams are swollen
Keep them doggies rolling

Friday was also final packing day for Dan. By the end of the day, the truck was loaded, the apartment was empty and Dan was ready to roll.  Anne, Annie and Dan went to the rental agency and picked up the truck and trailer.  They showed Dan how to load his car, which he will do on Saturday.  Dan and Anne drove the truck and trailer back to his apartment and Annie followed in Dan’s car.  I arrived home just before Dan, Anne, Annie and Tom (Annie’s brother) pulled up with a few last-minute donations for my basement.

Rain and wind and weather
Hell bent for leather
Wishing my gal was by my side

All the things I’m missin’
Good vittels, lovin’, kissin’
Are waiting at the end of my ride

After work, Dan read the renter’s manual for his truck.  With a trailer, the speed limit is 55 MPH.  He also has to stop at all open weigh stations.  This trip might take a little longer than originally planned.  Anne’s joke for the day occurred when one of Dan’s friends told everyone during the height of the move, “You guys are all rock stars!”   He was just trying to encourage everyone.  Her mental response was, “Yeah, Pre-Cambrian.”

Move ’em on, head’ em up
Head ’em up, move’ em on
Move ’em on, head’ em up

Cut ’em out, ride ’em in
Ride ’em in, cut ’em out
Call ’em out, ride ’em in

Dave has gotten all of his necessary paperwork in for his intern position at NIH.  He still has to figure out how he is going to get to D.C., get his stuff there and when he gets there where he is going to live and how he is going to get around town.  He wants to get all of this done by the end of August, when his lease is up in Rochester.

Keep moving, moving, moving
Though they’re disapproving
Keep them doggies moving

Lyrics from the TV show Rawhide, by way of the The Blues Brothers.
