We went wine tasting with Bruce and Kim and Bob and Noreen. Near Geneva, we first visited Fox Run vineyard for lunch and a tasting. This is where he took the selfie. A stereotypical winery complete with an active eagle’s nest. We next moved down the road to Scout vineyards for the main event. A much smaller winery, run by a young couple and obviously dear to Bruce’s heart. There we sampled five of their wines, which soon ballooned to seven, then eight or more. We were able to enjoy this plentitude by sharing flights, boy-girl, girl-boy. The wine was great, but what was even better was the repartee. The conversation between the Scout vintner and Bruce and especially Kim was fascinating. The rest of us tried to chime in, but they were the main discourse. The conversation flowed between discussions of acid, sugar, floral and the like. Often getting rather technical. It was both an enjoyable and educational afternoon.
