Leopard Ate My Face

Leopard Ate My Face

Leopard ate my face is an expression that describes the experiencing of negative consequences from a bad decision, often a political one. It is an expression that’s not meant to be taken literally, except by me of course. This phrase began with a 2015 tweet by Adrian Bott, which said, “I never thought leopards would eat my face, sobs woman who voted for the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party”. This is ridicule of voters who regret voting for cruel and unjust policies and politicians and are then surprised when their lives get worse.

Sitting here atop Mount Schadenfreude, above Monterey Bay, it is all too easy to look down upon other people. It is only temporary though. I keep having to tell myself. All too soon I will have to descend from this castle in the sky and go back to life among the little people. As much as I may complain about all of the work involved, I know that I am lucky to be here now, at least for a little while. And once all is said and done, I will depart with a few trinkets, some money and the love of my dear wife. To keep her happy, I’ll take her again to Pacific Grove today. She wants to knit in public. She has such a sweet face. It is hard to believe that she can also be a maneater. All under the guise of keeping me alive. Anne is seen here modeling my mother’s leopard fur in Nice! Women’s Consignment. It sports a Fall River tag, so mom must have had it for a while.
