We were walking in Laumeier park last week when we spied a hermitage of bluebirds. While the bluebird is the state bird, it is still relatively rare. Never have I seen so many of them at once. We counted half-a-dozen. We watched them for about ten minutes and got this decent photo of one of them. In the picture notice the red berries. I think that they were what attracted the birds.
Back in the day, when I was in computer sales, we had a term that involved bluebirds. Then a bluebird meant a sale that came out of the blue. A stroke of luck, where the bluebird of happiness landed on your shoulder and said I’ll buy.
Nowadays, I am no longer so into making money. Now, I am more into spending money. To that end, a bluebird has come to rest on my shoulder, in the form of a road trip. Last week, out of the blue, Anne proposed this trip. So, next month, we will head south to Padre Island, TX. The occasion for this trip, other than taking a winter break, are Whooping cranes. There is a festival down there that we will be attending, complete with boat tours. On the way down, we will stop in Hot Springs and take the waters and on the way back, we will visit the Walmart Museum. In between birds, boats and a lot of driving, we will take to the beach.
