Yesterday, Anne saw that one of her Facebook friends had seen this year’s new owlets peeking out of their nest. It being a beautiful day, we headed over to the park to see what we could see. There were already other birders at the expected location, making it easy-peasy to spy the Great Horned owls. Mom was sleeping at the opening to her nest and occasionally an owlet would stick its head up to be seen. Charles, the dad was sleeping nearby, and another birder pointed him out to us too. Last year the two owlets fledged in early April, so I’m guessing these two have about month to go before they leave the nest.
