Dan flew intotown, I picked him up and we did lunch. His t-shirt and the title of this post both say in faux-Latin, “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.” A phrase that’s been around forever, but has recently received notoriety through Margaret Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale. In an interview, she expressed amazement that people would get tattooed on their bodies a phrase that she learned as a joke, some fifty years ago. Speaking of tattoos, that’s a new one on his middle finger. It’s a hobo sign that mean “worth robbing”. When asked why, Dan explained that he would like to be someone worth robbing. Take note thieves, he is also seen happily holding up his new phone. The old one was cracked and dying.
nice…
Thanks!
