Northern Flicker

After we returned from Michigan I restocked the bird feeders, including the suet feeder. Which this Northern flicker had its eye on. Unfortunately for him a cat was sunning itself on the back porch stairs. Unfortunately for him, but fortunate for me. With the cat there this flicker was forced to wait patiently, which allowed me to get this shot. Eventually, the sun moved on and the porch fell into shadow. The cat moved away and this flicker was finally able to feed.
