We are expecting 4” of snow tonight. Let me explain first, before you readers from more northern climes go all, “Pshaw, four inches, we have more than that every day for breakfast.” That may be true, but then you don’t have to run your air conditioner all summer long either. 4” will almost triple the amount of snow that we will have received this year. Typically, we’ve had 20” by now and if you still remember December’s unusual floods, then you know that we haven’t been lacking in precipitation as of late.
I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow, but unfortunately, it is in the middle of the day. My original plan was to just take a few hours off from work around lunchtime, but if the roads are bad in the morning, I’ll just have to take the whole day off. Darn the luck. Snow day! Is that harrumphing I hear from up north? I’ve got my GoPro charging and the Flexible-Flyer is raring to go. Come on Art Hill! I used to relish man against nature winter commutes, but have slowly come to the realization that here in Saint Louis you have only two choices, park out on the highway with everyone else or if the weather is really bad and all sane people have stayed home, then it’s just me and the SUV crazies. Neither of these options are that appealing. In the unfortunate event that this hoped for storm goes bust, I may have to go to work after all. So, pray for:
Snow, it won’t be long before we’ll all be there with snow
Snow, I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snow
Snow, I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow
Snow, oh, to see a great big man entirely made of snow
