The Earth Is Flat?

Jane sent us a link to an MLive article about “floating skyscrapers and flying freighters” or mirages on the Great Lakes. I remember taking one such picture and after much searching found it. This photo was taken from Point Iroquois and that is Gros Cap in the background. As the caption implies, at the time I thought that the effect that I was witnessing was due to the curvature of the earth, but as the article points out it is a mirage caused by a temperature inversion. It was originally published as one of my daily headers, way back in 2009.
