Tonight was the night of the Forest Park Balloon Glow. This is always the greatest draw of any event in the park. This year is the 42nd anniversary of the Forest Park Balloon Festival. The Glow has always been the preamble to tomorrow’s main event, the Forest Park Balloon Race. Normally we would eschew the traffic and just bike over to the glow, but Anne was still feeling a wee bit under the weather, even though she taught Spanish all day. We drove over and then still walked a bit, but found an excellent picnic spot and enjoyed the gathering crowd. A great herd of cyclists passed over us. Included in their number were two that we knew, Kubie and Bob. Once they settled, we were invited to join them and we then passed the time with them until the horns began to sound. Every time there is a five to zero countdown and then the horns sound. Then all of the balloons light their flame for maximal photographic effect. If you can’t get a decent photo at this event then you better check to see if your lens cap is still on.
Great post and pict!
