All Things Scottish

Young Bagpiper at the Scottish Festival

Bagpipes are shaped like an octopus in plaid pants, sound like a goose with its foot caught in an escalator and are played during history’s most lopsided battles—by the losing side. Hey, if it’s not Scottish, Its Crap! I mean, who hasn’t had a hankering for some haggis? It’s like all of Scottish cuisine is based on a dare!

Many Canadians are Scottish. I remember someone once told me that there are more people of Scottish descent living in Canada than there are in Scotland. Not sure if this is true or not, but either way, it’s a lot. I once read a whole post about this with sources on Reddit. So, it must be true. Here’s the abridged version: there’s about 36M people in Canada, about 12% of which declared themselves of Scottish origins, for around 4.3M ethnic Scots in Canada. Meanwhile, about 77% of people living in Scotland identify as ethnic Scots, for around 4.2M people. So, it is actually true, apparently.
