We first visited Round Lake a couple of weeks ago, when we were in the middle of the big freeze. We found then a gigantic iceberg, pictured above left. Yesterday, we revisited Round Lake. This time it was in the seventies. That thaw combined with the fountain’s spray have significantly and quickly reduced the amount of ice. The once iceberg mountain has been reduced to a caldera complete with a frozen dinosaur sculpture. In the half-hour that we observed it, the amount of ice remaining had been visibly reduced. The ice may be all melted by this weekend. I had figured that it would take weeks to melt all that ice.
