Trans-Superior Sailboat Race

Start of the Trans-Superior Sailboat Race

Sailboats Locking Through

Our friend Chris of Alice & Chris fame has been visiting us at the cabin for the last few days. Unfortunately, the weather has been lousy. We went to Tahquamenon and the Shipwreck Museum yesterday, all the way in the rain, but we persevered and still had fun. Today, we did the Soo locks and tourist row. We saw a couple of lake boats lock through and then one of the tour boats and a slew of sailboats began locking up. The half-dozen sailboats in the lock were some of the of the field of 30+ boats that are in the Trans-Superior Sailboat Race. Most of the sailboats had hoisted pennants, except for the one pictured on the left. This boat hoisted one of their crewmen. He snapped pictures of the crowd in the observation platform and also did some Q&A with us. We later drove out to Point Iroquois to see the start of the race.
