Anne in Red Rock Country
We visited Arches National Park, briefly upon our arrival to Moab and then more extensively the following day. Anne is seen here in the Windows area of the park. Arches claim to fame are its 2,000 arches, of which we were able to see only a fraction. It actually rained the first night and threatened to on the second. Arches only gets about 9″ per year, so to witness these events is a bit of luck. The next morning some of the ‘potholes’ were full of water and ready to spawn desert shrimp. We did another ranger led interpretive walk and learned a lot about the geology, plants and animals in the park. We were the only guests, making it a private tour.
That’s really lovely. Vibrant colors. Potholes with desert shrimp is a new one on me.
We didn’t see any shrimp, but it had only rained the night before. We did see egg laying insects in the potholes.
The pictures look so perfect that it’s almost not real. Very nice.
