Laumeier Sculpture Park

Laumeier Sculpture Park Fine Arts Center

Another day, another expedition, this time our destination was Laumeier, once the private preserve of Matilda Laumeier, it is now a county park and has been such for forty years now. They were celebrating their anniversary and the opening of the new fine arts center, with a retrospective of design drawings from over the years. This exhibit featured proposal drawings for works that have come and gone, works that are still around and works that never were. After this exhibit we toured the grounds. There were wild turkeys also out and about, in addition to the sculpture, but they were too quick for me. After, we went to Spencer’s Grill in Kirkwood, a diner that has been serving lunch since 1947 and without any seagulls to help them.
