Dave arrived in town last night. He’s in town for a biomedical engineering conference that is being held at the WashU medical center. We went out to dinner together last night at Blueberry Hill in the U city loop. The remnants of the polar vortex ensured that this business area that features lots of outdoor sidewalk café dining was really crowded and really hopping. It was difficult finding a parking space. We first tried getting in at Fitz’s but it was too crowded. So, we went across the street and got a table right of way at Blueberry Hill. We had a nice dinner together. Afterwards, I was left with the check and Dave left to meet some friends who were already down the street at a bar. I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
This morning Dave was going to take MetroLink to the hospital, because parking there is always a problem. I offered to give him a ride to the train station. When it was time to go, I was surprised to see him come down wearing shorts and an open collared shirt and slipping on some flip-flops. I asked him, aren’t you presenting today? Are you going to wear that? Dave said that it was the dress code: shorts and flip-flops – yes; suit and tie – no. So, off we went.
3 thoughts –
1) looking good Dave!
2) back to the cowboy bar!
3) shorts and flip-flops – oh yeah!! my workplace does not allow either, but I do often bring my flip-flops in or leave them in my car so I can immediately change at the end of the work day. 😉
