The SLUT – The South Lake Union Trolley

Officially known as the South Lake Union Streetcar, wags have taken to substituting trolley for streetcar. These same wags attempt to remain politically correct by introducing periods between each letter (S.L.U.T.). What kind of acronym has periods between each letter? Personally, I think that some summer intern had way too much fun with this and really deserves the naming rights to this vehicle. The denizens of Seattle being who they are couldn’t have taken the more expedient measure of calling it the South Union Lake [Streetcar | Trolley], like the rest of America would have, because then how could they tell who are the out-of-towners. It is not that Lake Union is a Great Lake. It’s a pretty good lake, it just isn’t all that big. It’s totally surrounded by the city of Seattle.
