Jay, Carl and Anne set out on Friday morning. I was reminded of that old joke about taking my money or my wife. As it turns out they took both, Anne and my new car. They are all head to Michigan, for the annual convening of the clan, except that they are taking a little detour through Tennessee first, to see Rey. Then after a few more days of sweltering in the Midwest, they’ll head due north until they eventually find a latitude more comfortable. Meanwhile, I remain in the Lou, to swelter and to work. Jay and Carl timed their visit here near perfectly. We don’t get very many visitors in July and August, primarily because of our summer weather. This summer is shaping up to be a hot one, but Jay and Carl managed to pick a relatively temperate couple of days that appear will lie between stretches of triple digit temperatures and high humidity too.
