Proof of Life

Dave returned Sunday, from a week of Spring Break in Cancun.  I was glad to hear that he had a good time and never got too sunburned.  Considering some of the recent news reports that have been coming out of Mexico, I was even more glad that he was back in the good old US of A.

This is Dave’s fourth Spring Break, he is a senior now.  On his first spring break he went to NYC, which was also a bit nervous-ing.  He took the train down there and stayed at a youth hostel.  On the way back though, he hit a snag.  A freight train had blown up near Syracuse and destroyed the railroad tracks.  He ended up flying back to Rochester.  The next year he went to New England and hung out at other schools that weren’t on Spring Break.  Amherst comes to mind.  I think that Toronto was next.  The boy gets around.

Dave started posting pictures on his Facebook wall almost immediately after he had returned to Rochester.  He had promised to send me some photos for the blog, but got too tired.  So I lifted some of them off of Facebook.  I sure that it is alright.  We’re friends after all.  😉

In addition to daytime activities like, swimming, sunning, snorkeling & jungle boat touring, Dave also enjoyed the Cancun nightlife.  Those of you that are also friends of Dave on Facebook know what I am talking about.  For those of you who are not, ask him about the Booze Cruise, the next time you see him.

We first heard from Dave, after he had touched down in Philly and while he was waiting to go through customs.  His phone call was his proof of life and by the looks of it, proof of the good life too.  I’ll leave you with a quote from Dave, I don’t speak Spanish, but it speaks to the cross cultural exchanges that take place with a visit to a foreign land, “Juan, necesito dos tequilas, ahora mismo.”
