Did you know that the merry go round was originally at Forest Park Highlands amusement park which burned down in 1963? I remember that because I had “graduated” from elementary school and would go to junior high in the fall. Many St. Louis area elementary schools had an end of year school picnic there and the Highlands was known for its roller coaster The Comet. We always had a great time at the Highlands. Forest Park Community College sits on the grounds of the former Highlands.
