Danger! This is one of the deadliest beaches in the Midwest! Beware of sleeper waves and rip currents. Do not play “tag” with the waves. Do not turn your back on the water. Do not give this beach your credit-card information or PIN.
Today was a beach day, sort of. I was on the beach, so it was by definition a beach day. It was cold, except when the sun came out. Later the wind made it even colder. Still, we persisted. Earlier, we had taken Jane to Wicked Sister, because she had never been there. We also visited with Paulette down the beach, who plied us with wine and snacks. That is where the Closed to Swimming sign was. But we had to break that soiree off early, to make our Facetime playdate with Declan. Afterwards, we reconvened at Bill’s beach bench, with Liz and the other Anne. Declan, Et. al joined us for another call. Even with all of this activity, it was still kind of a lackluster beach day. Our last one of this summer.
While sitting down at the beach bench, a mature bald eagle attacked a gull that was floating on the water, just off the beach. This time the eagle missed, but I have seen it go the other way.
