With the new, new LED vanity light successfully installed and working, cleanup has begun. I uninstalled the new dimmer switch and installed a new, new brown-colored regular light switch. I put the original fluorescent light fixture in a green bag and took it to the dump. I returned the new fluorescent lightbulb to the Brimley Ace Hardware store and will return the dimmer switch to Everything Electric tomorrow. There is another ivory-colored regular light switched that needs to be returned to Meijer. Finally, the new LED vanity light fixture, the one that does not work, is boxed up and ready for shipping back to Amazon. First, I need to swing by the Soo library and print a mailing label. Once this is all done, our little adventure in electricity will be over. Oh, wait! There is still the original fluorescent bulb, the one that burned out and kicked off this Odessey, the one that is filled with mercury. We still have not figured out what to do with that.
In other cabin news, we broke out Jane’s wood splitter. After some struggles, and then a couple of YouTube videos, we figured out how to use this device. We split a few logs and then put the splitter back in the shed. Anne restacked the wood, taking two little stacks and making one big one. We are ready for cold weather.
We had a go with the splitter when we were there. Easier than the ax, but definitely exercise. After warming up splitting, who needs a fire?
According to the YouTube videos, not letting the jack retract all the way is labor saving.
