Parker’s Table is a local deli that was featured in a story that I heard over the holidays. We had been there before and were familiar with it. One of Dan’s friends, who shall remain nameless was telling us a story about work and this establishment played a role. This friend is a personal assistant to someone who bears a striking similarity to Amanda Priestly, a character played by Maryl Streep, in the movie The Devil Wears Prada. In that movie Anne Hathaway is tasked to get the next as of yet unpublished Harry Potter book. She succeeds and gets to keep her impossible job. Parker’s Table plays the stand-in role for a similar quest that Dan’s friend was tasked with. I will not go into details except to say that this assignment would have been easier if it had not been for the vagueness of the request. Anyway, Dan’s friend kept their job too. 

I watched Twisters, the sequel to Twister, the blockbuster about tornado chasers. I had been looking forward to seeing this show but ended up disappointed with it afterwards. In the first movie the chemistry between the stars, Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton really made that movie. Although the sequel roughly follows the plot of its predecessor, it lacks that chemistry. Like in the first movie, the film’s opening sequence features a tornado that led to tragedy for the female lead. She and her friends are chasing a tornado, get too close and her friends are sucked away.  We can only assume that they were toast—or, rather, funnel cake.
