Phrygian Cap

French Phrygian Cap

This cap represented the height of Paris fashion in the summer of 1789, the time of the storming of the Bastille and the beginning of the French Revolution. This particular cap is a hundred years newer than that, made on the centennial of those events. It still evokes revolution. Next week, this country will anoint its own king but let not rest easy that head beneath the crown.
