We drove west to Faust Park, out in west county. We first visited the butterfly house, which has recovered from its pre-thanksgiving flood. Declan seemed enthralled by the fluttering bugs. It was a nice safe place for him. Not so much the neighboring carousel. The carousel there is one of the fastest ones around, clocking in at a speed of 15 MPH. That twirling speed, plus the up and down motion of the bucking broncos, seemed too much for the young sir. He kept wanting mom to hold him, but Maren stoically obeyed the instructions of the operators and held him in his saddle until the end of the ride. Afterwards, we learned that in the past they have had to stop the ride early, but because of momentum, it takes quite a while. Anyway, he survived and like the Roomba, he will not be going back there again. We had lunch at First Watch afterwards. Then home for a nap, for me too. It is the holiday season and Declan’s gift to Anne, and I is a cold. Dave and Maren went out for dinner with Kennard and his SO. We (Anne) handled dinner for Declan, bath and bedtime.
