Matt Gaetz’s nomination for Trump Attorney General is in serious trouble. The House Ethics Committee report on Gaetz’s alleged sex trafficking of a 17-year-old, with eyewitness accounts of hard-drug-fueled orgies, is reportedly “highly damaging.” Consequently, Gaetz-for-AG may not even last a single Scaramucci. Ideally, a sex-trafficker, a child molester and an Attorney General would be three different people. Elect a clown, get a circus.

The Gaetz ethics report is a work product that has been funded by the American taxpayer. Releasing it is not releasing random investigative materials that could harm someone unfairly. It does not contain classified information that would harm the national security of the United States. It was, presumably, completed or near completion and would have been released had he not resigned from Congress. And his supporters, who believe in his nomination so strongly, should have no issue with it being released by a Republican-led committee.
