Thanks to Jane (and Bill), the new couch is now officially installed in the cabin. This work is the culmination of a project from last summer. Then, Anne decided that it was high time to replace the old couch cushion. By my mind, it was well past time for its replacement. None of the various secondhand stores were willing to accept it, so off to the dump it went. She ordered a new cushion. It arrived on the back porch as a giant white marshmallow. We got it into the cabin and set it up, still wrapped in its plastic wrapper. Being situated in front of the fireplace led to jokes about smores. Anne had also ordered a new cushion cover, but it was slower to arrive. That left the job to Jane, to squeeze that gigantic marshmallow into its new cushion cover. Along with Bill’s help they did it. This new mattress should make the great room’s couch a much more palatable sleep station. It looks ready to handle a new generation, in the cabin’s second century.
