Mommy Took Me to the Zoo Today

Twisting

We got there in time to catch the Sea Lion feeding, which is always a hoot. The zoo was not very crowded, it being a weekday. Maybe the temperature had something to do with that. Although the heat did not seem to deter the crowds over the last weekend. We hit plenty of the different houses on the way up Historic Hill to see the new tigers. The reptile house was great, with many of the animals posing nicely. The new outdoor lemur exhibit was completely empty of other people. There were plenty of lemurs out braving the heat and I was even able to coax a couple of them to come out of their lethargy and investigate us. The tigers are almost full grown now. At our turnaround point, we broke down and purchased a lemonade. After we finished it, we ducked into the bird house, which was not very well airconditioned. Maybe the birds like it warmer? Next up was the great ape house. Most of the apes were indoors, cooling off, just like humans. We saw the new baby orangutan. Kali the Polar bear looked hot; it seemed a bit dazed just standing in front of ice pits that had been setup for this weather. The penguins were as cool as cucumbers. Their air conditioning was set to Antartica. We headed back to the car, put its A/C on blast and went home.
