Yesterday, I went to the ER. I was looking for the urgent care, but got lost. On, Friday morning, I had awakened with a pain in my right leg. Sometimes it was quite debilitating and on others it completely disappeared. I went to gyro, which seemed to help. Then we drove two days to North Carolina, which did not. By the time I headed to the doctor, I could hardly walk. Having instigated this trip in the first place, Dr. Alice accompanied us. The hospital/urgent care was only a couple of miles away. It was brand new and virtually empty. We walked right in and were quickly ushered into a waiting room. The young woman who attended me, I found out later was not actually a doctor. She was a physician’s assistant. She listened to my story and came away with blood clot as her diagnosis, which is apparently quite common in my age group. It was at this point that Alice revealed herself as a physician. I am surprised that the poor girl did not get whiplash, what with her head turning that fast. The woman began making her statements in the form of a question. Sort of the doctor version of the game Jeopardy. Try as she might, Alice could not get the attending to back off on her blood clot diagnosis. So, we trooped across the parking lot from urgent care to the hospital, specifically imaging. I got an ultrasound. It showed no clots. I eventually got the muscle relaxant that I wanted. It worked like a champ.
I’m glad to hear it wasn’t a clot. But better to be sure!
Me too!
Glad it was an easy fix
Good drugs
Happy to hear it was a muscle cramp and not a clot. Good that Alice was there.
