Anne’s Brain

Brain Coral — Calcification Caused by Plaque

Anne is participating in a drug trial for a new Alzheimer’s drug. I act as her study partner. She has been doing this for some time now. She regularly gets an infusion of the drug or a placebo. She was supposed to get one of her last infusions this week, but the technician who gives these infusions took time off to view the eclipse. Today, we both had Zoom meetings related to this study. I was interviewed first, basically to collect memories that Anne could then be tested on. Then Anne got tested. We have done this routine before, and I am so tempted to lay land mines for her. Like, “Anne, do you remember when you rode the elephant this week?” Unfortunately, there would be hell to pay for something so overt. I will just have to contend myself with more oblique slights. Like when I am questioned about her housekeeping prowess, “Does she vacuum as well as she used to, or does she now require assistance to perform these tasks?” She We so rarely vacuums that we had to get a Roomba. We have more Zoom meetings later this week, about what I do not know, but I am sure that she will tell me.
