Yesterday, Anne and I both had our annual well puppy checkups. Everything checked out fine. I got another Covid vax, and I also got my ears cleaned out. In addition to all of the normal things, Medicare checkups ask a lot of questions, like about mental health and for me hearing. For a couple of years now, my new doctor has been harping about there being too much wax in my ears. It is sort of a thing with him. I have tried over the counter treatments, but apparently to no avail. He was about to refer me to a hearing aid specialist, when he instead offered to clean out my ears himself and I assented. He pulled out this giant metal syringe, filled it with warm water and then proceeded to firehose squirt it in my ear. Next, with a probe, he pulled out an amazing amount of crap that he caught in one of those kidney shaped metal bowls. Then he did the other ear, with similar results. He estimated that he had removed a couple nickels worth of stuff from each ear. Instantly, I noticed my hearing was better. Afterwards, we went out to lunch to celebrate our new leases on life.
