Crystal Bridges

Hanging Heart, Jeff Koons

Who brought winter back? Last week, we escaped south, running away from the cold, then we turned north again. When we started out it was still quite warm north of us. It was still warm when we came through Dallas yesterday, but this morning it was freezing. Fortunately for us, today was an inside day. We went to see Crystal Bridges, the Walton art museum. Donated by their rich family, admission is free to the public. The museum is still relatively small, but it is growing. The amount of ongoing construction is huge. Its art collection is eclectic, but interesting. In the beginning the Waltons sent people to Saint Louis to consult with the St. Louis Art Museum and learn the tricks of the art museum trade. They seem to be doing well. We missed seeing Suzie, because we messed up our schedule. Tomorrow, we head home, and I will sleep in my own bed.
