Montezuma’s Aztec civilization consumed chocolate as an elixir that was also thought to be an aphrodisiac. It is said to contain substances that inflame desire and make the beloved one more open to romance. The brain releases Oxytocin in response to love, like when we hug someone. Oxytocin is also released whenever we eat chocolate. People who eat chocolate show more desire for romance than those who don’t.
I used to buy these Kollar Chocolates when a local coffee shop sold them, but they stopped carrying them and I lost the bead. This year though a little internet sleuthing, I tracked them down again. They are almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

Tonight, being the chocoholics that we are, we actually enjoyed triple layered chocolate cake, with chocolate dipped strawberries. So, the pictured chocolate tableau lives another day.
