Summer Road Trip

Hot Wheels

We’ve left Saint Louis and have successfully arrived in Ann Arbor. It was a long drive, with relatively light traffic and completely uneventful. Most of the construction seemed to be only just getting underway for orange barrel season. There was only one minor traffic slowdown, the merging dance down from two lanes to one. We are both tired after sitting in the car all day. This is the first step on our trip north and of our summer vacation. Alice and Chris will be joining here in Ann Arbor, this weekend. We are sharing an Air B&B together. Their flight was delayed and are not expected until late. I may or may not be able to stay up to greet them. We have gathered to celebrate our fiftieth high school reunion, Alice, Anne and I, but not Chris. Where were you in seventy-two? The weather is quite good here this long weekend, making this reunion celebration even better. Our last one, the fortieth reunion, was held here in the fall, and the outdoor reception was a wee bit chilly then. After this long weekend, Anne and I will head north and open the cabin, a first for us. How long we will stay up north is still a matter of some conjecture.
