Desert Sunset

This a picture of a sunset, but it just as easily could have been a sunrise photo. They look about the same. I’ve just finished another 12 hour night shift and I’ve got almost another twelve hours to go, before I get home tonight, in Saint Louis. Any of my distinctions between sunset and sunrise have long since blurred away.

It has been a long trip. I’ve certainly had more than my fair share of enchantment this week, plus lots of OT. Field trips always make for an interesting change of pace, from sitting in front of a tube all day, and this trip has been no different. I can’t say that I did a whole lot on this trip, but I did learn a lot. My self-appointed job title on this trip is that of JAFO (Just Another F-ing Observer). So I guess I did my job after all, and I guess that tomorrow, I’ll just have to do it again.

After working all night, we all made a mad dash up to the airport, at Albuquerque. After a couple of Bloody Mary’s (first drinks in a week), at 10:30 in the morning, and after being up for 24 hours, I now feel free to move around the country. Lookout Southwest, lookout Saint Louis, because here I come. By way of epilogue, I fell asleep on takeoff and only woke again on final. Mission Accomplished! Surprisingly, or maybe not, it is colder here in Saint Louis, than even at night in the desert.
