The Saint Louis Post Dispatch’s One Minute Movie Contest!

1-minute-movie-contest

I have been invited to show off my inner Scorsese in the Post-Dispatch’s One-Minute Movie Contest.  I read the invitation in the paper.  The Saint Louis Post Dispatch is holding a One Minute Movie Contest.  The rules are the following:  Make a movie that runs one minute or less.  It must include a copy of the Post-Dispatch newspaper as a prop.  It must be submitted by December 1st.  We get the paper, so that shouldn’t be a problem.  I would like to enter this contest, but I need an idea.  So Dear Readers, can you offer any help on coming up with an idea?

Speaking of movies the Saint Louis International Film Festival started this week and tonight we have tickets to see Slumdog Millionaire.  The movie is about a child of Mumbai’s slum that improbably ends up on India’s version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?   Even more improbably it looks like he might win.  It looks to be the best movie of the festival.

Last night we watched on Amazon Unbox, Son of Rambow, (99¢).  This movie was shown at last year’s festival.  The movie is like Billy Elliot, in that it is a story about British working class boys who find escape and expression through art.  It is lighter and funnier then Billy Elliot though.  In Son of RamBow the boys seemed to enjoy their film making as a game, like children would.  Billy Elliot seemed to need his dancing, almost more then life itself.

OBTW, I rode in the Park today.  I got 15 miles.  It was gusty.

  1. Clearly this has to take place on your bike with that new camera thingy. and you could show the paper by stopping in front of a paper box on some corner.

aside from that — include a bunch of St. Louis landmarks? maybe take a ride with the camera on, and then edit it with cuts, or else speed it up really fast so it fits into a minute.

  2. I’ve been meaning to watch Son of Rambow… if you want to make a music video you can film me rocking out the day after thanksgiving
