Today’s picture shows John at the starting line for today’s ride. John, his brother Jim, Don, DJ, Anne and I successfully completed the ride. It rained all day. Temperatures were in the fifties. With 30,000 riders there was lots of traffic jams. We wouldn’t call it fun, but we are both glad that we did it.
Anne and I had ridden our rental bikes up from the southern tip of Manhattan, last night. This morning we cruised down Broadway to the ride’s start. The tour traveled up Manhattan, through Central Park and Harlem. The Bronx was next then back to Manhattan. After that we rode through Queens, Brooklyn and ended on Staten Island. We took the ferry back to the rides starting point and then took the Subway back to the hotel. The gang is getting together for dinner now, so I got to go.
This is one of the truly great events of NYC

Who is that homeless guy on the right in your header? He must be doing something right because he is pretty close to that beauty queen. Actually you all “cleaned up” pretty well and would qualify as “beautiful people”.
The Sunday 5BBR was pretty tough – it was the combination of the wind, rain and mid 50 temps that did it.
But we did enjoy the camaradarie of our other 29,994 other best friends!
