Blog fodder?? All about Don!

fattirehandle1Yesterday, my good friend Don, sent me an email about New Belgium Brewery’s new tap handle.  There is one thing that you all should know about Don, he likes beer.  He is actually quite the beer aficionado.  He also sent along the following video.  The video is reminiscent of the Tour de Fat bicycle rides that New Belgium use to sponsor here in Saint Louis.  Don is also a bit shy, at least wise with regards to this blog.  I can respect that and normally I do, but yesterday Don went on to send out two more emails:

Yesterday, MODOT announced when the new section of I-64 would open and when the next section would close.  That would be Sunday, December 14th.  On that Sunday, before the highway is opened to cars, it will be opened to bicycles and pedestrians.  There are three events scheduled.  The St. Louis Track Club has organized a 5k run in the westbound lanes of I-64 at Ballasfor 9:00 a.m.  You can call them at 314-781-3926.  There will also be a fun bike ride from noon until 2:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-64 at Ballas or McKnight.  You can pre-register at the Saint Louis Bike Federation or by calling 314-707-5001.  There is a $25 fee which includes a t-shirt.  Proceeds will go to purchase bicycle racks around the area.  People who want to compete in a cycling time trial can meet in the westbound lanes of I-64 at Ballas between noon and 2:30 p.m.  Pre-register for the event at Big Shark Bicycles or by calling 314-862-1188.  This will be a USAC permitted event.  There is a $25 fee.  Years ago Don and I competed in a similar time trail when the Page extensioned opened.  Maybe if they get the timing right this time he will beat me?

Don’s third email had to do with Team Kaldi’s fundrasing.   Team Kaldis is presently in 1st place, but we’re in quite a horse race with the Monsanto team.  Earlier yesterday, they were ahead by a little over $100.  Yesterday at 4:42 PM Team Kaldis was in 1st place by $8.00 – that’s right, only eight bucks.  Our team total now is $100,751.00.  He also mentioned that the MS Society is still accepting donations and will continue to do so up until near Thanksgiving.  Anne’s and Mark’s donation page links are still on the lefthand side of this web page.

Now for something truly embarrassing about Don.  A photo of two wild and crazy guys on the first morning of the thirtieth RAGBRAI.

OBTW, come by and wish Susan (Kubie) a Happy Birthday – What – A Happy Hour gathering in the bar area.  When – Wednesday. 11/19/2008, starting at 5:30pm.  Where – Chevy’s Mexican Restaurant – Olive and I-170.

  1. I remember the first time I saw that RAGBRAI photo.

I was up at the beach with a strawberry iMac, a dial-up connection, and a bunch of teeny-boppers.

3 of the teeny-boppers wanted to use the computer and I was checking my email one last time before handing it over to them. It was taking forEVER! Somebody was sending me something big. The kids were anxiously waiting on the bed behind me.

FINALLY, my email came through, with that picture. And hysterical peals of laughter on the bed behind me.

  3. oops. didn’t notice the double comment until today! Can’t remember exactly what was going on, momentarily wonky wi-fi at the Courtois cabin, prob’ly.

You can delete one of them if you want. And this one too.
