Soon I Will Be Invincible a novel by Austin Grossman is a first person subjective narrative by Doctor Impossible, a brilliant scientist turned world’s greatest menace. The story opens with the good doctor in prison wondering “whether the smartest man in the world has done the smartest thing he could with his life.” In good comic book fashion Doctor Impossible has a nemesis, Champions leader Corefire and a lost love Fatale, former villain now novice Champion. Can Doctor Impossible (finally) defeat the Champions? Can he take over the world? Can he get the girl of his dreams? Can he do all this before the three o’clock bell rings?

Hulu.com is offering the delightful, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.  Aspiring super-villain Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris aka Doogie Howser) wants to join the Evil League of Evil and win the girl of his dreams, but his nemesis, Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion from Firefly) is always interfering. I’m guessing that this was an hour long pilot. Note to fellow bloggers contemplating super villainy, don’t blog about your plans, the police might be watching.

Speaking of people who want to take over the world, today is election day, the state’s non-presidential primary.  Anne is working the election as an election official.  She got up at four because the polls opened at six.  The polls close at seven and since she is the head Democrat at her poll, she and her Republican counterpart must both escort the ballots.  So, I don’t expect to see her until eight, sixteen hours.  Anne voted yesterday.  Dave and I just voted and Dan is headed over there.

The big news is the villainous heat.  It is only 93 now, but the heat index is 110.  Usually, in August we have dried out, but this year’s heavy rains is causing the high humidity.  Tomorrow is suppose to be nicer.
