I took Friday off and rode in the park. Every class except the one Anne is teaching was in the park today. I counted over 20 yellow buses in the zoo south lot alone. I got 25 miles.
I saw a hawk (any Sibley’s out there) being chased by a flock of smaller birds. I went by the Shakespeare Festival’s stage. Part of the inner bike loop was blocked by a honey dipper’s truck tending to the kybos. Tonight is opening night of this summer’s production of Richard III. The Bike St. Louis sign is on one of the new routes. This one is at the corner of Skinker and Wydown.
As I passed the police stables a police helicopter took off. It had landed for a youth group presentation. As it took off it passed low over a coral of several horses. They were not happy. The last interesting thing I saw in the park today were signs announcing an event at the Planetarium, Sunday, May 25th at 6 PM the Mars Phoenix Lander lands on the Red Planet.
Tomorrow at 10 AM Don Baird, Anne and I are meeting at the Kirkwood Kaldis. We plan on doing a reprise of the Fun Club’s Y-Ride. We’ll probably do the middle (29 miles) or maybe the long (48 miles).
