Capt. Matt Quy purchased this PT-13D Stearman Kaydet training aircraft in 2005, though its condition was poor. When he sent the registration to historians at Maxwell Air Force base, he learned that the Tuskegee Airmen had used the plane as a trainer. He restored it, dedicated it to the Tuskegee Airmen, and flew it to their first training grounds at Moton Field in Tuskegee, Alabama. Several of the airmen later signed the lower door. The aircraft came to the museum in 2011. PT-13D Stearman Kaydet Overhead is the PT-13D Stearman Kaydet training aircraft used by the Tuskegee Airmen.
