Smoke and Fire

Sunset with Mirrored Clouds

Going into this trip to Gitchee Gumee I was expecting that with the Canadian wildfire smoke, we would at least be graced with some fabulous sunsets, but so far that has not been the case. Everyday so far, in the afternoon, clouds first appear, then thicken and eventually obscure all trace of the sun as it is finally going down. Nothing even close to this pictured sunset from yesteryear has appeared this summer. Today, the wind swung around from the east to the southwest. This means that today’s smoke did not originate in Quebec, unless we are now getting backwash. Most likely, we have switched over to Ontario’s wildfire smoke. The summer is just getting started, so it remains to be seen how all this fire and smoke will unfold.
