It is unseasonably warm today but is expected to cool back down in a few days. So, we decided to go to the garden, by way of our daily walk. It was crowded there, with many school field trip groups noisily enjoying being outside and quite a few senior groups too. The irises were in bloom, along with seemingly every other kind of plant. The Garden’s iris collection is over a hundred years old, with some varieties dating back to the 1500s. The new visitor’s center that is replacing the Ridgeway Center is nearing completion and is scheduled to open later this year. Its construction mess has expanded and has taken over half the parking lot. Meaning, we had to park out on the street. We have just renewed our annual membership at the gardens, and we claimed our new membership gift, a coffee cup.
